The Service of Civil Aviation (YPA) ordered the removal of Athens Airways from flights serving Athens to Karpathos which it was awarded in addition to eight other destinations. As it was reported in the relative statement from YPA, which came to this decision, after the company in question did not fulfill its obligations as in the agreement that it had signed.
According to the statement, the airline was fined recently for delays and cancellations of flights in which they were not replaced, causing much discomfort and the absolutely justified protests of its passengers. It was also noted that the airline executed many flights with leased planes from foreigner companies with foreign crew members, which was contrary to the terms of the contractual obligations. The Service of Civil Aviation had imposed fines totaling 30,000 Euros from April 30th to today, in order to force the airline to observe its obligations.
YPA further clarified that it was negotiating with the remaining airlines that serve Greek destinations to replace Athens Airline with another airline.
