The Vienna, Austria office of the Greek Tourist Organization (EOT) published the following press release in reference to the Karpathos Booth in the Ferien-Messe Wien 2009 Tourist Exhibition:
This year’s Ferien-Messe Wien 2009 Tourist Exhibition ended with great success. The presence of Greece in the exhibition was viewed with the best impressions. A total of 823 exhibitors from 71 countries participated attracting 105,439 visitors. The interest of the visitors was evident despite the world economic crisis. The specific questions of the visitors were related to low cost/high quality benefits of package deals or individual travel to Greece. The EOT booth was a total of 4201sq. meters and the 19 exhibitions from various regions of Greece was the center of attention by the visitors. A commendable presence was demonstrated by members of the Karpathos booth. This was due to their energetic desire to be helpful and answer question by the visitors of the exhibition and hopefully future tourists of the island. This enthusiasm had the result of assembling the largest number of visitors of the exhibition. The president of Lauda Air, Mr. Thomas Surriich was honored for his company’s 25 years of direct charter flights to Karpathos. The representative of the Organization of Projection and Culture of the Dodecanese Islands, Mr Emmanuel Nouarakis presented the award. Mr. Surriich was exceptionally moved and honored by the award, and promised “to visit Karpathos as soon as possible”.
