Mesochori
Mesochori is an incredibly figurative town, which is inhabited by 440 people. The main church of the village is the church of the nativity of the Virgin Mary, which is celebrated on September 8th. It is locally called ‘Panagia Vrisiani’ and it is actually built over an artesian well, the main source of water for the village. This enables the inhabitants to have an abundance of fruit and vegetables grown locally for local consumption.
Mesochori also has the largest production of olive oil made from its olive groves on the island. In Meschori you'll find some taverns and a couple of small supermarkets. Lefkos is a small fishing village located 6 km from Mesochori and 31 km SW from Pigadia, on the North West coast of the island. It is famous for the sand lilies abounding there in the summer. Lefko has 3 beaches next to each other. It has taverns, small family owned hotels and a few mini-markets.
Close to the intersection of the main paved road from Pigadia and the road to Lefkos in the middle of a rich pine forest, lies the 13th century monastery of ‘Agios Georgios’ or St. George. Click here to go back
